We are an interdisciplinary research team looking at ways in which we can support parental leave in all its shapes at Northumbria. In particular, we are keen to understand how technology plays a role in supporting (or sometimes hindering) the juggling act of becoming a parent, maintaining a professional role and everything in between.

Dr Marta E. Cecchinato
Marta is a the PI of this project and a Senior Lecturer in the department of Computer and Information Sciences at Northumbria University. She is currently expecting her first child and researching work-life balance in the digital age.

Dr Lisa
Thomas
Lisa is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Psychology at Northumbria University. She researchers motherhood and technology, on top of juggling life as an academic and a mother of a 3 year old.

Selina
Sutton
Selina, a socio-linguist at heart, is a PhD student in the department of Computer and Information Sciences at Northumbria University. She is also a mum to a one year old and a strong advocate of gender equality in higher education.
